Are you struggling with personal or relationship difficulties?

  • Are your efforts to connect with your partner just not working?

  • Do you struggle with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, or similar concerns?

  • Do the challenges in your family seem like they'll never end?

If so, I can help.

  • I offer short-term, research based counseling for individuals, couples, and families in distress.

  • I will help you discover the tools needed to meet life's challenges.

  • I focus on empowering you to reach your goals by using strengths you already possess.

  • I have centrally-located offices in Roseville and Sacramento.

Several things make my counseling unique.

  • I maintain my practice on the side of my main job as an Assistant Professor and Site Director of Alliant International University's Marriage and Family Therapy program. This provides several benefits.

  • First, it allows me to keep my practice small, ensuring that you get my full attention.

  • Second, being a professor and award-winning researcher and author ensures that I'm on the cutting edge of the latest the field has to offer.

  • I am one of only about six people in the Sacramento area with a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from a COAMFTE-Accredited program - the highest level of MFT accreditation in the nation.

I have helped people with:

  • Relationship challenges: Extramarital affairs, in-law relationships, intense conflict, premarital counseling, addictions, abuse, or difficulties communicating. You name it; if it is a challenge a couple faces, chances are I’ve helped someone with it. Couples counseling is a specialty of mine.

  • Individual challenges: Whether it’s depression, anxiety, surviving a trauma, low self-esteem, general life dissatisfaction or something else altogether, it’s a rare person that makes it through life without some major personal challenges. Even though my license says “marriage and family therapist,” I have plenty of experience helping individuals, too.

  • Family counseling: Is your child acting out? Is your teenager constantly in trouble? From helping your infant (and you!) sleep through the night to blending your new stepfamily, family challenges are a favorite for me. Perhaps it’s because I have four kids of my own!

I'd love to answer any questions you may have!

I want to do all that I can to help you decide whether or not I’d be a good fit for you. That’s why I offer a free initial phone (916-565-3513) or email consultation. If you decide that you’d like to work with me, I have availability throughout the week. I have offices conveniently located in Roseville and Sacramento.

Clinical Supervision

If you are a therapist looking for an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor, you’ve come to the right place! I am one of only 2-3 AAMFT-Approved Supervisors in the valley, so if you need to supplement your BBS-Approved clinical supervision with AAMFT-Approved clinical supervision, I can help. If you ever plan on getting licensed as an MFT in a state other than California, getting AAMFT-Approved supervision is a must. You can find out more by clicking the AAMFT-Approved Supervision link to the left.
